Chef Steve Lumree

“It doesn’t matter if it’s pub food like chicken wings and onion rings, or a fancy steak dinner, it’s got to be good quality,” 

Chef Stephen (Steve) G. Lumree is a seasoned culinary professional with more than 30 years of experience in hospitality, restaurant management, and food service leadership. Trained through SAIT and mentored by renowned European and Canadian chefs, Steve has held executive positions at premier resorts, restaurants, private clubs, and large-scale hospitality operations across Canada.

Throughout his career, he has led award-winning kitchens, catered high-profile events for national and international dignitaries, and successfully owned and operated acclaimed restaurants including Ruffed Grouse Bistro, George's On Main Brasserie, and The Blacksmith Gastropub. His expertise spans fine dining, large-volume food service, culinary consulting, and hospitality management.

Today, Steve continues to share his passion for exceptional food, local ingredients, and culinary excellence while he joins our team at the Portage by the Lake
